Thursday-weekend

Today I'm taking care of some practical things, like resetting my clock to Europe time!

We're off to Århus tomorrow for a few days... we'll help TK's nephew, Matias, celebrate his konfirmation on Friday. The confirmation is a religious rite, but culturally is like our Sweet Sixteen--a big party with family and presents that usually happens around age 14. We'll visit some friends in Århus and come back to Copenhagen Monday evening. Friday is a national prayer holiday in Denmark.

We're off again on Wednesday, this time for a long weekend in London. I've been to London before, about 10 years ago, but am excited for TK to show me around. He got his masters degree and lived there for about four years, and has some friends there.

Day One

So I arrived early Wednesday morning after an on-time, uneventful, volcanic ash-interruption-free flight--this must be a first! After a quick shower and a stop for coffee, Thomas implemented his plan to keep me awake with a tour of the entire on my newly borrowed/acquired bike. It was a beautiful sunny spring day. You can (roughly) trace our route here, through Frederiksberg, Islands Brygge, Christianshavn, downtown/Strøget, and back again:
